ConstructSafe Tier 1 must be completed by contractors working directly or indirectly with the Auckland Council by 1st December 2019.
On the 19th of June a Notice of Information (NOI) was released at statement. All contractors undertaking high-risk physical works for the Auckland Council are to demonstrate commitment to ConstructSafe by the 1st of December 2019 for new and existing contracts.
What does this mean?
All contractors working directly or indirectly with the Auckland Council must be Tier 1 ConstructSafe qualified by the 1st December 2019.
Who needs to be ConstructSafe Tier 1 qualified?
All workers of contractors or subcontractors undertaking high-risk physical work activities where Auckland Council is the PCBU, principle or bill payer.
Workers who have not yet attained their Tier 1 must be directly supervised at all times and must have a plan to sit their Tier 1.
What is ConstructSafe?
ConstructSafe aims to provide the industry with assurance that individuals have the knowledge and ability to keep themselves and others safe while performing their job. This is achieved through testing process of knowledge and behaviour against a framework designed and developed based on industry needs.
